Does anyone have any information on this WATKINS / OSBORNE family of Chesterfield County, VA? I would appreciate any help to fill in missing info, add branches and find out the detailed history of "CURLES NECK" (TURKEY CREEK ISLAND; PRESQU'ISLE), now a bird refuge. I am most willing to exchange information I have on this family.

Mr. Wm Randolph immigrated to an island on the James River in 1660, lived there many years and called it "Curles Neck" (Turkey Creek Island, now called Presque'Isle). I believe the Watkins family sold the land to Dr. A. D. Williams who donated the island to the U.S. as a wild bird refuge in 1951.

EDWARD OSBORNE WATKINS (son of ROBERT WATKINS, a merchant of Richmond, VA, and MARY "POLLY" OSBORNE) was born 6 Mar 1800 /01, Chesterfield, VA, occupation farmer, married 21 Sep 1820, in Johnson's Spring, Goochland, VA, HARRIET TABB TREVILLIAN, born 15 Feb 1801, Goochland?, VA, died 15 Nov 1858, at Presqu'isle, Chesterfield, VA, and was buried there. Her tombstone reads "Harriet wife of E. O. Watkins (daughter of John & Mary Trevillian of Goochland) died at her residence in Presque Isle, Chesterfield Co. Nov. 15, 1858 aged 57 years and 9 months" Edward died perhaps in 1865 and may have been buried at Presque'Isle.

Children: i MARY LOUISE "NANNIE""SALLY" WATKINS born 09 Sep 1820? "Presqu'isle," Chesterfield Co., Va., married 01 Dec 1837, in Presqu'isle, Chesterfield Co., Va, PAULUS AURELIUS CLAY, born 11 Oct 1807, Bedford Co., Va., (son of Rev. CHARLES GREEN CLAY and EDITHA LANDON DAVIES.

ii ROBERT HENRY WATKINS born 1826/27, Chesterfield, VA, died post 1863, in Tennessee, no issue, Married LUCY ANDERSON of TN.
