Notes

In 1764, John Watkins bequeathed two slaves to his daughter Phebe. At the family plantation in eastern Cumberland Co., VA, now eastern Powhaten Co., 20 year old Phebe was courted and won by her visiting cousin from Prince Edward Co., VA, Silas Watkins.
